Hat-trick of wins for Ross
Welsh Junior international Ross Owen Year 11 completed his own hat-trick of titles in the Welsh Young Bowlers Under-16 tournaments recently. He won the pairs against a Port Talbot pairing, he then won the triples beating a Cardiff triple, and then to round off the hat-trick Ross skipped a fours team to beat a quartet from Heartheton.
Keep an eye out for Ross as we are all sure he will be a star in world bowls in the future.
Well done Ross!
On Thursday June 10th 2010 over 250 pupils at- tended the Athletic Track at Aberdare for our Annual Sports Day. Year 10 GCSE pupils and sports leaders from Years 10, 11 and 12 assisted with officiating the events and they did an excellent job.
Events for competitors in year 7, 8 and 9 included various running, throwing and jumping events. It was lovely to see so many pupils taking part and the weather was good. One school record was broken by Callum Hall in Year 8 for the 200m and he received a medal in recognition of this.
Well done to all the competitors and parents who turned up to support and an extra thank you to Mr P Barry who organised the whole event. The best GCSE boy athlete was Grant Davies and the best girl athlete was Bethan Willis and the winning House was Taff. The day concluded with the House Medley Relay which involves 4 girls and 4 boys from each House and covers 2 laps of the track. The winning relay team was Golwg.
Well Done Chloe
Year 8 pupil Chloe Mulligan was the star of Mountain Ash RFC’s under-12s side last season and was the only girl in the team. Chloe was also the school’s Player of the Year on Prize night and when leaving Mountain Ash RFC recently she was presented with a cap in honour of her service to the club
Chloe was sad to leave her friends at Mountain Ash RFC but was looking forward to joining the Under-15s women’s team at Abercwmboi RFC.
