Caffi MACS
You may be aware that there are some exciting changes afoot with the school cafeteria. There has been a competition for students to come up with a new logo for what is now called “Caffi MACS”. Here is a brief list of improvements that are underway:
· providing better and more nutritious menus (see attached);
· all meal options are provided from £1 upwards;
· supplying new tables and chairs in MACS school colours of red and green;
· installing a wide screen TV;
· revamping the cafeteria walls with eye-catching information on the importance of eating healthily.
A school working party has consulted with students and RCT staff to achieve many of these improvements for your children.
We believe that this will:
· improve the eating and social experience your children get in the school cafeteria;
· encourage your children to enjoy an appetising and balanced diet;
· keeping Years 7 & 8 in at lunchtime which will ensure their physical safety;
· improve social skills through communal eating and making choices;
· guarantee you as parents that your child has actually eaten a proper meal at lunchtime;
· make lunchtimes more fun.
In addition to the lunchtime facilities, the school will also operate the following:
· a Breakfast Club, available to all pupils from 8:00am, serving hot toast and fruit juice for 20p;
· breaktime snacks will continue to be available, with emphasis on nutrition and lower costs, complementing the lunchtime menu;
· a water fountain is located in the canteen area, with MACS water bottles being available for purchase at £1 each – see Miss J Bradley (Head of Food Technology).
Vegetarians should also be aware that a pre-booking system is in place for lunchtime meals. Please inform Mrs Peach, Head Cook, before 10:30am on the days you wish to dine in the canteen.
I am sure that with the right level of commitment and enthusiasm we can together make lunchtimes a positive experience for all the children. If you do have any queries or concerns, please contact Miss Jo Bradley, the Head of Food Department, in the first instance on 01443 479199.
