Year 11
Year 11 is an important stage in a child’s school career which culminates in external examinations, whether traditional G.C.S.E., Entry Level or B.T.E.C. vocational courses.
Heads of Year and form tutors will monitor pupils’ progress at regular intervals to ensure they reach their potential. Pupils who are under-achieving are identified via target-setting and assessment procedures and are encouraged to take advantage of the extra support provided.
Parents are encouraged to take an active part in monitoring their child’s progress and may be contacted by the Head of Year if the need arises. Parents are also encouraged to attend the Year 11 Parents’ evening during the Autumn Term where the Head of Year, form tutors and subject teachers are available.
During Year 11 the Head of Year, together with P.H.S.E. staff collaborate with the Education Business Partnership to enable all pupils to receive a ‘mock interview’ with employers in preparation for life after leaving school. All pupils in Year 11 will be presented with a Record of Achievement towards the end of the school year, a document which is requested by employers and colleges alike.
The Head of Year recommends certain pupils to receive the COMPACT Certificate, also produced by the Education Business Partnership and valued by employers.
Regular attendance is vital if pupils are to achieve and, to this end, the Head of Year, Form Tutors and the school’s Education Welfare Officer work closely together to ensure that regular attendance is maintained.
