Pupils have six one hour lessons a fortnight and take part in a wide variety of activities which help to develop their Speaking & Listening, Reading and Writing skills. In addition, pupils use ICT to help improve their literacy skills and regularly use the Library as part of the Department’s drive to develop pupils’ independent reading skills. Whenever possible, the Department arranges visits to the theatre and often invites in storytellers, poets etc. Pupils are also encouraged to take part in activities such as public speaking and national creative writing competitions.
