History seeks to promote a knowledge and understanding of people and events in the past and also of the factors which have helped to shape the modern world. Through the study of History students can develop valuable high level skills – understanding; analysis; ability to make recommendations; making judgements; presenting a case; reconciling conflicting ideas. History contributes towards Study Skills – problem solving; communication; IT; working with others; improving learning and performance, all of which are valued in the workplace of today.

It teaches you how the world developed during the C20 and how the dangers were overcome.
It helps us to understand how some of the issues in our modern world have come about.
It teaches you how to analyse evidence and discuss its values and flaws. It is interesting to learn about important events – how and why they came about.
I like learning about the past. I think it important to learn about events that affected my grandparents and the mistakes and successes of the past.
I find it interesting and challenging – I like the fact that for certain questions there are no definite right or wrong answers.
I like learning about the way people lived.
