We are a very innovative department and go beyond the realms of traditional ICT (Word Processing, Spreadsheet & Database) work. We have developed a very forward thinking curriculum at both KS3 and KS4, whilst still offering a traditional A level for students who need to study ICT for university.
We use various software packages which include the ones mentioned above, but also Macromedia Studio Suite which includes: Flash, Fireworks and Dreamweaver to create original animations, high quality graphics and web design. In both KS3 & KS4, we produce an electronic portfolio of student’s work which displays their work in the form of a website, cutting down on the amount of printing and are attempting to become carbon neutral. Pupils at KS3 also use video and music editing software to produce their own movies, with original sound tracks (music), title and animation effects.
This enables pupils to become independent autonomous learners in ICT and make pupils aware of ICT in society, its impact and effects.
