The Department shares the delivery of BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport with Aberdare High School. This is a vocational course equivalent to two A levels. The course is taught over two years and it is possible to complete the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma during year 12 for those students who wish to leave at the end of year 12. ASSESSMENT SCHEDULE

There are no examinations as this qualification is all coursework. Pupils are assessed against course criteria and receive a Pass, Merit or Distinction for their assignments.

PARENTAL SUPPORT

Pupils must adhere to deadlines and are required to work independently at home and computer access is beneficial.  Independent research is essential for success in this course.  Trips that are arranged are relevant to the course and there may be a financial contribution required for some to cover the cost of professional expertise e.g. physiotherapy.
